Columbia Community Development Team Wins National Award

COLUMBIA, SC - June 7, 2012 - The City of Columbia Community Development Department has been selected as a recipient of the 2012 John A. Sasso National Community Development Week Award. This award is given in recognition of the good works through the activities and events held during the 2012 National Community Development Week April 9-14.
The City recognized 35 Years of Action in the Elmwood Park Neighborhood, the first neighborhood to receive Community Development Block Grant Funds (CDBG) in 1977, and celebrating the grand opening of a new affordable housing community called Waters Crest Townhomes, as part of Community Development Week.
The awards will be formerly presented at a luncheon during NCDA’s 2012 Annual Conference, June 20 – 23, 2012, on Friday, June 22 at 12:00 noon at The Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, California.
