NBSC Sponsors School Supply Drive

COLUMBIA, SC - August 10, 2012 - NBSC, a division of Synovus Bank, has partnered with WACH Fox to sponsor a “Back-To-School Supply Drive.” Now through August 24, NBSC branches located in Richland, Lexington, Kershaw, and Sumter counties will be accepting donations. Our mission is to help students get a successful start to the school year.
NBSC invites community members and local merchants to join them in helping needy students by donating items such as notebooks, pens, paper, pencils, markers, and other typical school supplies.
According to a recent study by the Annie E. Casey Foundation that assesses the overall health of the nation’s children, including their economic health, South Carolina ranks 43rd among the 50 states. The most troubling South Carolina finding is the number of children living in poverty. According to the new report, the state experienced a 13 percent increase in children living in poverty from 2008 to 2010.
Today, one in every two children in South Carolina lives at or below the poverty level.
