COLUMBIA, SC - October 30, 2012 - The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is seeking comment from the public for projects selected for the 2013 Federal Match Program for amendment into the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

The SCDOT Commission approved applications totaling $19,896,592 in federal funds at their October meeting.  The applications include:

  • 12 Resurfacing Applications that involve the resurfacing of approximately 106 miles of  55 roads in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Pickens, Oconee, Spartanburg and York counties, and in the cities of North Augusta,  Surfside Beach and Hilton Head.
  • An Intersection Upgrade Project at the Camp Road and Folly Road intersection, Charleston County.
  • The City of Fountain Inn Main Street/SC 14 Streetscape Project.
SCDOT sought applications for federal-aid eligible resurfacing (reconstruction, rehabilitation, or preventive maintenance) and “Shovel Ready” system upgrade projects (widening, new location) with a 50-50 federal/local match participation from August 1 to September 14.

Projects considered for the Federal Match Program were selected based on an SCDOT Commission approval and application process. Priority was given to resurfacing projects with remaining funds being made available for system upgrade projects.
