COLUMBIA, SC - February 8, 2010 - Four Midlands Cici's restaurants on Wednesday, Feb. 10 will set aside ten percent of the day's proceeds to donate to In-Vest USA, a South Carolina-based charity which raises money to equip law enforcement with bulletproof vests. The St. Andrews Road, Village at Sandhills, Decker Boulevard and Woodhill Mall locations will participate.
"Thanks to the generosity of companies like Cici's, many law enforcement officers are equipped with the one piece of equipment that could mean the difference between life and death," said Michael Letts, In-Vest's president. "Even in the best of times, bulletproof vests are extremely important. In today's economy, when law enforcement agencies are strapped for cash, it's even more important that private citizens step up to help ensure police, deputies and highway patrolmen have life-saving vests."
In-Vest was formed in 1993 to outfit Richland County deputies with vests after Letts and a group of Richland County business leaders learned vests were not standard-issue equipment. The charity has thrived thanks to partnerships with businesses such as Wachovia and BellSouth and restaurants such as Cici's, O'Charley's and Carrabba's.
"Cici's believes in giving back to the community that has been so good to us, and In-Vest is a truly worthy cause," said Cici's franchisee Mitch Uehling. "We're proud to do our part to help protect the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe."
