What is Employment Eligibility Verification?
Who should use it?
How does it affect the Federal Acquisition Regulation?

Join the Columbia Area SBDC for this informative workshop consisting of explicit instructions and guidance on E-Verify, the Form I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility Form and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for federal contractors.  This workshop will be offered by Phyllis Bell, a Senior Management and Program Analyst with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) from Washington, DC.  She will provide a customized workshop to South Carolina employers, prospective and current small business owners to include 8a, minority owned, HUB Zone and veteran-owned businesses.  We are offering vital information on how to use
E-Verify, complete a Form I-9, and FAR contracting information.

Below is a brief synopsis of each program:

Form I-9 - Employment Eligibility Verification, which employers are required to use to verify whether an employee is authorized to work in the United States as mandated by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA)

E-Verify - a free, Internet-based system that allows an employer, using information from an employee's Form I-9 to determine the eligibility of that employee to work in the United States.

Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) - requires, as of  September 2009, Federal contractors and subcontractors with contracts containing the FAR E-Verify clause (48 C.F.R. 52.222-54) to use E-Verify.
